FannywastheonlyoneofthepartywhofoundanythingtodislikebutsincethedayatSotherton,shecouldneverseeMr.Crawfordwitheithersisterwithoutobservation,andseldomwithoutwonderorcensureandhadherconfidenceinherownjudgmentbeenequaltoherexerciseofitineveryotherrespect,hadshebeensurethatshewasseeingclearly,andjudgingcandidly,shewouldprobablyhavemadesomeimportantcommunicationstoherusualconfidant.Asitwas,however,sheonlyhazardedahint,andthehintwaslost.“Iamrathersurprised,”saidshe,“thatMr.Crawfordshouldcomebackagainsosoon,afterbeingheresolongbefore,fullsevenweeksforIhadunderstoodhewassoveryfondofchangeandmovingabout,thatIthoughtsomethingwouldcertainlyoccur,whenhewasoncegone,totakehimelsewhere.HeisusedtomuchgayerplacesthanMansfield.”
“Itistohiscredit,”wasEdmund’sanswer“andIdaresayitgiveshissisterpleasure.Shedoesnotlikehisunsettledhabits.”
“Whatafavouriteheiswithmycousins!”
