‘Besides,wearenotofthesameage:—whichage?’demandedLavinia.
‘Neveryoumind,Lavvy,’retortedBella‘youwaittillyouareofanagetoasksuchquestions.Pa,markmywords!BetweenMrRokesmithandme,thereisanaturalantipathyandadeepdistrustandsomethingwillcomeofit!’
‘Mydear,andgirls,’saidthecherub-patriarch,‘betweenMrRokesmithandme,thereisamatterofeightsovereigns,andsomethingforsuppershallcomeofit,ifyou’llagreeuponthearticle.’
