FatherDickson,whowasperfectlycalm,nowremarkedintheshadowofthewood,atnogreatdistance,threeorfouryoungmenmountedonhorses,wholaughedbrutallyandcalledouttothespeaker,—
"Givehimsomemore!"
"Myfriends,"saidfatherDickson,"Icameheretoperformaduty,atthecallofmyheavenlyMaster,andyouhavenorighttostopme."
"Well,howwillyouhelpyourself,oldbird?Supposingwehaven't?"
"Remember,myfriends,thatweshallallstandsidebysideatthejudgmentseattogiveanaccountforthisnight'stransactions.HowwillyouanswerforittoGod?"
Aloud,sneeringlaughcamefromthegroupunderthetrees,andavoice,whichwerecognizeasTomGordon's,callsout,
