WithaportionofthispropertyMr.GodfreyNicklebypurchasedasmallfarm,nearDawlishinDevonshire,whitherheretiredwithhiswifeandtwochildren,toliveuponthebestinteresthecouldgetfortherestofhismoney,andthelittleproducehecouldraisefromhisland.Thetwoprosperedsowelltogetherthat,whenhedied,somefifteenyearsafterthisperiod,andsomefiveafterhiswife,hewasenabledtoleave,tohiseldestson,Ralph,threethousandpoundsincash,andtohisyoungestson,Nicholas,onethousandandthefarm,whichwasassmallalandedestateasonewoulddesiretosee.
