Thorny'slookandtoneseemedtomakeplaintoBenallthattheyhadbeensuspecting,and,beinginnocent,hewastooperplexedandunhappytodefendhimself.Hiseyewentfromonetotheother,and,seeingdoubtinbothfaces,hisboyishheartsunkwithinhimforhecouldprovenothing,andhisfirstimpulsewastogoawayatonce.
