    不做毀譽之事，更不要追随可能帶來惡名而不是榮譽的風氣。社會上有不少邪門左道，明智的人遠離這一切。有些人的品味是很奇怪的，明智之人鄙棄的東西他也能全盤接受。他們酷愛那些奇行怪事，這确實可能讓他們家喻戶曉，但往往是作為笑柄，而非贊譽。謹慎之人不會公然宣稱自己有智慧，更别說去追求那些讓自己或是追随者看上去可笑的東西。這種事情無須特指，人們的鄙視已足以指明。
